“...this album gets better with every listen... The bottom line, though, is that Basement are back, and it feels as though they never left.” - Kerrang!

Citizen announce 'Halycon Blues', out 8/7

Citizen have returned! Today the Toledo, OH-based rock powerhouse have announced their new album, Halcyon Blues, due out 8/7.
Citizen have always been determined to follow their own path, taking creative risks and challenging expectations at every turn. It's all led to Halcyon Blues, a dynamic, confident release that draws on nearly two decades of musical and personal growth to emphatically declare what their dedicated fans already know: Citizen are one of our great modern rock bands–and they’re at the absolute top of their game.
To celebrate the album's announce, Citizen have shared Halcyon Blues' massive lead single, "Highs and Lows." It's a bold cut of technicolor alternative that steadily builds from a dark, pulsating bass line into the kind of euphoric chorus that few bands can come close to achieving. Prepare to hit repeat because the best rock song of the summer just arrived a little early.
17 years into an impressive career, Citizen still feel like underdogs who have never quite fit in. The band have had an unlikely rise from a group of Toledo high schoolers to long-running headliners capable of selling out shows around the world, and they got there through persistent sonic evolution. Over the years they've moved deftly through raw emo, menacing post-hardcore, anthemic alternative, garage-y indie pop, and so much more, now Halcyon Blues combines elements from throughout their entire catalog together into a singular and instantly satisfying record that just sounds like Citizen.
Citizen have also announced a massive run of worldwide tour dates in support of Halcyon Blues. First the band will be hitting the road in September with support from Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket, and Cryogeyser, followed by the UK and EU with Modern Color, then Australia with Drug Church. See full itinerary below.

Basement release new single/video "Head Alight"
First album in 8 years, WIRED is out May 8th

On May 8 British alternative rock mainstays Basement will return with WIRED, marking their first new album in over eight years and a reunion with their original label, Run For Cover Records. Boldly defying genre limitations, the record marks a new chapter for the band and is their most authentic and fully realized work to date. Working with producer John Congleton (Death Cab for Cutie, Wallows, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten), Wired is the sound of five friends, who have weathered every high and low without a single lineup change, creating the uncompromising music that first moved them. Today they reveal the final single ahead of WIRED’s release, the dubby and deliriously hooky “Head Alight.”
“What started out as a love song quickly evolved into something a lot more ethereal,” says vocalist Andrew Fisher. “Alex was picking up on what I was saying in a far broader and otherworldly way. He saw it less in a romantic way - a more universal look at the idea of someone’s soul or essence being so powerful and beautiful you can’t look away. This really excited me because it allowed me to get out of my head and focus on something way more abstract and therefore, hopefully more expansive.” Fisher continues, “I hadn’t really approached songwriting like this before and I found it really fulfilling. We were really stuck with this sound - focusing on the guitar leading it, in a very indie rock early 2000s thing. It just never felt right. The more we added, the less I liked it. John stripped everything back and it became so much more powerful.” Listen/share “Head Alight” here and watch the video, directed by Kaylinn Duffy.

Portrayal of Guilt release new track "Total Black" ahead of new album
…BEGINNING OF THE END out this Friday 4/24
Sink into Portrayal of Guilt's pummeling "Total Black" single -- the final preview ahead of their experimental new album …Beginning of the End which sees its release this Friday. Their fourth studio album embraces both the groove and avant garde, revisiting the raw, teeth-gnashing intensity of their previously revered work while toying with nu-metal, alternative rock, trip hop, dark ambient and other disparate influences. The latest effort feels like a band that has traversed every shadowy corner of heavy music, distilling their decade of innovation and knowledge into a singular show of force, recalling moments of greatness found on releases from Deftones, Massive Attack, Dystopia, Deathspell Omega, Celtic Frost and Cursed among many others.

Teen Suicide Share New Single/Video "Suffering (Mike's Way)"

This Friday, April 17th, Teen Suicide will release their new album, Nude descending staircase headless. Today they're sharing one more early preview with their buoyant new single "Suffering (Mike's Way)."
Nude descending staircase headless is Teen Suicide's first ever proper studio recording and marks the start of a new chapter for one of the most unique and impactful bands in modern indie rock. The album was recorded/produced by Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday, Oso Oso, Cymbals Eat Guitars) and its leap in fidelity alchemizes all of the personality, nuances, and raw edges that make Teen Suicide special. The result is an immediately gratifying release that’s faithful to the band's earlier music while also moving boldly forward.
Earlier singles "Idiot" and "Spiders" introduced this heavier, hifi, fuzzed-out version of Teen Suicide, but "Suffering (Mike's Way)" shows off another side of Nude descending staircase headless. It's an upbeat slice of jangly indie punk with bubbling keyboards, huge hooks, and even a surprisingly optimistic lyrical outlook.

Watch Basement's "Way I Feel" Music Video
Wired is out May 8th
Basement's forthcoming album Wired is coming May 8th, and today they have released the third music video form the album for new single "The Way I Feel". The track leans into producer John Congleton’s lively, unpolished production style and features an anthemic chorus - sonically transporting you to a joyous, sweaty venue floor.
About the song, vocalist Andrew Fisher says, “‘The Way I Feel’ is about standing on the edge of a really important decision, right before you make it. Constantly questioning whether you have the courage to stand up for yourself and fight your side, while at the same time begging for forgiveness and acknowledgement. My tongue is in my cheek quite a lot in this song - you need to decide when I’m saying what I mean or not.I love the simplicity of this song and I love that the intro is the same audio sample that Al made on his loop pedal. I knew from the first time he sent that audio file that this would be a song.” Listen to “I Way I Feel” here and watch the video below.

Gouge Away Joins RFC, new video/single "Figurine" streaming now
upcoming tour dates with Wednesday, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age
Gouge Away have joined Run For Cover! To make the announcement the noise rock extraordinaires are celebrating the signing with a powerful new single, "Figurine."
Over the past decade Gouge Away have steadily grown from South Florida punk upstarts into one of the most viscerally compelling bands in modern aggressive music. Their sound has evolved into a diamond sharp blend of urgent hardcore, unhinged noise rock, and unexpected catchiness, and on "Figurine" the group push it further than ever before. Captured by Larry Crane at the legendary Jackpot! Recording Studio in Portland, WA, "Figurine" is powered by a skyscraper riff somewhere between Pixies and Pissed Jeans and vocalist Christina Michelle's agile voice spinning from roar to whisper on a dime.
"Figurine" will be also released on a limited 7" which includes a physical-only cover of “Eisbär" by Grauzone. The single follows Gouge Away's acclaimed 2024 full-length, Deep Sage, and feels like the perfect start to the band's new chapter with Run For Cover. That future is looking bright with more new music on the way and a packed schedule of tour dates supporting Wednesday, along with several gigantic shows alongside Foo Fighters and Queens of The Stone Age. Portrayal of Guilt "...Beginning of the End" out April 24th
Double single "Ecstasy" / "Human Terror" streaming now.

Portrayal of Guilt announce new album …Beginning of the End, a curious title for a band that has treated each release like a new creative start, constantly reinventing themselves since their inception less than a decade ago. …Beginning of the End embraces both the groove and avant garde, revisiting the raw, teeth-gnashing intensity of their previous work while toying with nu-metal, alternative rock, trip hop, dark ambient and other disparate influences. The latest effort feels like a band that has traversed every shadowy corner of heavy music, distilling their decade of innovation and knowledge into a singular show of force.
Portrayal of Guilt share their first preview of …Beginning of the End with lead singles “Ecstasy” and “Human Terror" which together capture the album’s dynamic, expansive direction. Both are available across streaming platforms today via Run For Cover alongside a classic, sinister video for “Ecstasy”, directed by Craig Murray, and a visualizer for “Human Terror”.
Throughout the years, the revered Austin trio have toured the world over, creating their own musical eco-system and released three seminal full-length albums, they have done it in a manner that avoided compromise, welcomed free experimentation and avoided labels outside of "menacing," “compelling” and “must hear.”

Portrayal of Guilt made an immediate impact in underground circles with their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide by mixing nihilistic hardcore, black metal, classic screamo, and imaginative textures. We Are Always Alone and CHRISTF*CKER LPs followed in 2021, the band’s breakout body blows that corroded the band’s commitment to genre, nodding at industrial music, post-metal, sludge and even post-hardcore, all while cementing the band’s tendencies toward experimentalism. Portrayal of Guilt’s fearless spirit reimagined their own sound as classical (Devil Music EP) and EBM / goth (CHRISTF*CKER II) on more recent efforts. And though the pacing of releases and the band’s evolution has remained steady, Portrayal of Guilt’s execution has kept their audiences hungry for the band’s ever-evolving sound.
…Beginning of the End was recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom between March-June 2025 with mastering handled by Will Yip. It’s Portrayal of Guilt’s fourth studio album in eight years, and third with Run For Cover.
Portrayal of Guilt have also announced a North American headlining Spring tour which starts with a hometown send off show May 9 at Mohawk in Austin. The run crosses East Coast, Midwest with Pageninetynine, Taraneh, Halloween and The Infinity Ring supporting select dates. Tickets are on sale Friday, March 6 at 10AM Local Here. BASEMENT ANNOUNCE FIRST NEW RECORD IN EIGHT YEARS
Stream two new singles, Wired is out May 8th

On May 8th, British alternative rock mainstays Basement will return with WIRED marking their first new album in eight years as well as a reunion with their original label Run For Cover Records. Across the LP’s 12 tracks fans will hear a return to the unbridled passion and creative intuition that's always animated their best material.
Today, the band — vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart, and drummer James Fisher — tease Wired with the release of lead singles “WIRED” and “Broken By Design,” which together showcase the album’s dynamic breadth. The title-track is the most urgent they’ve ever sounded, a surefire live staple propelled by needling guitars, a slugging drumbeat, and a skyscraping hook that finds Fisher’s voice in peak form. “Broken By Design” has the opposite temperament: dusky, delicate, bass-led, but still quintessentially Basement in its immediate catchiness and moody character.
Speaking of the singles the band’s Andrew Fisher says, “‘WIRED’ is about how sometimes it feels that we are set up to feel and behave in certain ways beyond our control. That no matter how hard you try to hide it, eventually it will come out - either by choice or by force. This song was almost lost - a few of us were into it, but it sort of lost traction for a bit. Then one day it cropped back up and we put it at the forefront of our minds and it ended up being one of my favourite songs to perform and record.”
He continues, “‘Broken By Design’ is about giving something your absolute best and realising it’s destined to fail. Getting to the other side of the situation, looking back and deciding to do everything differently and feeling grateful for the opportunity to grow. We’ve all done a lot of work on getting better at talking to each other as friends and as band mates. Sometimes that's an easy distinction - or rather, not a distinction at all. Other times, the lines are blurred and we lose track of who we are and why we do this. When I’m singing, ‘let’s go back to the start’ I mean to when we did this purely for fun. For an excuse to see each other, to travel, to be creative, to express ourselves through music. We all feel so lucky to be in a position to still get to do this and this album and this song in particular, is us trying to go back to how it should be.”
Listen to “WIRED” and “Broken By Design” and watch the videos below, with the former directed by Ashley Rommelrath and the latter by Tas Wilson.

Signing/performance tonight at Rough Trade NYC

Nothing's fifth studio album A Short History of Decay is out now, ahead of their upcoming US tour beginning March 4th. The new album stands as Nothing's most sonically expansive and emotionally direct work to date: a widescreen reckoning with time, truth, and the body’s slow unraveling.

Recharged by a newly solidified lineup featuring guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom), A Short History of Decay captures frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo at his most unflinching, confronting aging, illness, and the weight of memory with startling clarity.
