RFC signs Nothing, "A Short History of Decay" out February 27

PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW | WATCH "CANNIBAL WORLD" VIDEO

Philadelphia shoegaze greats Nothing announce their new album, A Short History of Decay. Out February 27, the band’s fifth studio album stands as their most sonically expansive and emotionally direct work to date: a widescreen reckoning with time, truth, and the body’s slow unraveling.

Recharged by a newly solidified lineup featuring guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom), A Short History of Decay captures frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo at his most unflinching, confronting aging, illness, and the weight of memory with startling clarity.

Alongside today’s announcement, NOTHING have shared the album’s first single and video, “Cannibal World,” a pulverizing statement of intent that fuses the band’s signature industrial-gaze intensity with the stark vulnerability that characterizes their best work.

NOTHING will perform at their own festival, Slide Away, across multiple dates in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Joined by bands such as Hum, Chapterhouse, Swirlies, and more NOTHING will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their seminal album Tired of Tomorrow with special guest lineups in each market. GUV announces new album "Warmer than Gold" out 1/30

Watch The "Let Your Hands Go" music video

GUV is back! Today the long-running, ever-changing, and reliably fantastic project of guitar pop extraordinaire, Ben Cook, has returned with the announcement of his new album, Warmer Than Gold, arriving January 30th.

Warmer Than Gold marks the start of a distinctly new chapter for GUV, taking the bulletproof hooks of his jangly past work and merging them with a dose of danceable breakbeats and swirling guitar textures. To celebrate the announcement, GUV has shared the record's lead single, "Let Your Hands Go," a vibrant cut of kaleidoscopic guitars and pulsating beats that wouldn't sound out of place on Top of The Pops circa 1990.

Warmer Than Gold was made with the help of an all-star cast of creatives, including contributions from James Matthew Seven, Darcy Baylis, Hatchie, Meg Mills of Turnstile, and many more. It's a record of unstoppable musical motion, effortlessly blending elements of Britpop, baggy, classic indie pop, and first wave shoegaze through Cook's unique lens. The result is an album that feels in conversation with the entirety of his musical journey—a set of songs whose roots go all the way back to his childhood growing up in between Toronto and England, and travel through his prolific years as Young Guv ("I'm not so young anymore, three letter band names are cool, and I'm tired of being mistaken as a rapper," he says of the name adjustment), arriving in the present with perhaps the best work of his career.

"I’ve tried to open up to the world and let it speak back to me. Slowly, I’ve been rediscovering myself, and now gratefully back to releasing music,” Cook says. “In the end, I’ve been searching for ways to bring the fleeting into focus, to make the invisible parts of myself real, hoping they might connect with something greater. Warmer Than Gold is another step in that journey of rediscovery.”

Angel Du$t announce new album Cold 2 The Touch out 2/13

Watch the "Cold 2 The Touch" music video

Angel Du$t can't be stopped. The most daring band in punk/hardcore recently joined forces with Run For Cover Records and today they've announced their new album, Cold 2 The Touch. Arriving February 13th, the record is a 26-minute blast of eclectic and hard-hitting music that makes it clear that Angel Du$t can’t be contained within the confines of narrow subgenres, and that a term as elemental as rock & roll might actually fit like a glove.

To celebrate the announcement Angel Du$t have shared Cold 2 The Touch's untouchably cool title track. It's a hyperactive cut of galloping drums, razor sharp riffs, and frontman Justice Tripp's one-of-a-kind vocal delivery, and the perfect introduction to the next chapter of Angel Du$t's constant evolution.

Angel Du$t began as a fresh start for Tripp after his time leading hardcore legends Trapped Under Ice, and after a decade plus of bold creativity the band have become a punk rock institution all of their own. Tripp blazed the trail for the current generation of hardcore musicians to experiment and take their self-expression into fearless, catchy, and vulnerable places, and Cold 2 The Touch proves that Angel Du$t's drive to make authentically aggressive rock & roll truly has no limit.

Cold 2 The Touch follows the band's 2023 album BRAND NEW SOUL, and finds Angel Du$t reuniting with producer/engineer Brian McTernan (Turnstile, Balance & Composure, Bane, Converge) who recorded much of their early material. Its also the first release with new members Nick Lewis and Jim Carroll (also of American Nightmare, Suicide File, The Hope Conspiracy and more), and it features guest appearances from all across the hardcore universe--including Scott Vogel (Terror), Wes Eisold (American Nightmare, Cold Cave), Patrick Cozens (Restraining Order) Frank Carter, and Taylor Young (Twitching Tongues, Deadbody). The result is Angel Du$t's most flat-out ferocious work in some time, a blender of hard riffs, big hooks, and even bigger personality. “This is who I am,” says Tripp. “and I speak for the band too: these are people who are always going to be playing aggressive rock & roll. It’s happening whether you like it or not. I’m me, and if you get in my way I’m gonna crush you.”

Angel Du$t will be continuing their nonstop touring ways with a lengthy run of shows in November with Narrow Head and Ovlov. See full itinerary below.

Knumears Joins RFC, announce "Breaking Ground" 7"

Streaming everywhere now

Rising screamo classicists, Knumears, have joined RFC and Summer Shade (the RFC imprint spearheaded by Fury's Madison Woodward), and today the Los Angeles based three-piece are celebrating the announcement with the release of their new single "Breaking Ground."

Streaming everywhere and also available as a limited 7" single, "Breaking Ground" is the perfect introduction to Knumears' harrowing blend of old school screamo and ferocious hardcore. The track explodes from the speakers and jolts the listener through bracing dynamic shifts that all lead up to a stunning finale.

Since forming in 2018, Knumears (guitarist/vocalist Matthew Cole, bassist/vocalist Dante Garcia II, and drummer Frankie Lopez) have been touring heavily and releasing a steady drip of heartrendingly compelling music. The band carries the torch for one of the most esoteric yet enduring corners of '90s hardcore--whether you call it screamo, skramz, emoviolence, or whatever else, Knumears offer a fresh take on the chaos and catharsis that define this sound. Recorded by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Gouge Away, Loma Prieta) at Atomic Garden, "Breaking Ground" is an intriguing hint at what's to come from Knumears. Stay tuned for more in 2026.

Horse Jumper Of Love announce Disaster Trick Deluxe Edition

B-Sides, Alternate Versions, Demos, and More

Last summer Horse Jumper of Love released their latest album, Disaster Trick, drawing acclaim from fans and critics alike (including Pitchfork, Stereogum, Paste Magazine, and more). To celebrate the album's anniversary they've announced Disaster Trick Deluxe Edition, arriving October 24th via Run For Cover Records, with b-sides, demos, alternative versions, and more.

Today the band has shared "Mansion" a previously unheard track from the Disaster Trick sessions that taps into the combination of expansive songwriting, dreamlike mood, and satisfying dissonant guitar crunch that Horse Jumper of Love excel at.

Vocalist/guitarist Dimitri Giannopoulos discussed the new song saying: "'Mansion' is a song that started back in the self-titled days (2014/15 -ish). I remember being into the early Swans stuff back then and it had a pretty direct influence on the guitar and drums. I always regret not recording it when I was 20, so I could have tapped into the youthful rawness the self-titled album has. In the studio Jamie, John and I knew how to play it right away even though we hadn't thought about it in almost eight years. That's a cool part about being in a band together for so long - the collective memory we share that allowed us to record something that was almost abandoned. The song only existed in our minds that whole time, no demos or anything."

Recorded in Asheville, North Carolina with producer Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Indigo De Souza) Disaster Trick showcased Horse Jumper of Love at the peak of their powers. Now Disaster Trick Deluxe Edition brings listeners further into the album's world, offering insights into the songwriting with sparse demos of roaring album cuts ("Snow Angel"), fascinating alternate versions ("Wink"), and previously unheard b-sides like "Mansion." Disaster Trick Deluxe Edition will be released digitally as well as on CD for the first time.

AFI "Silver Bleeds the Black Sun..." is out today!

CURRENTLY ON HEADLINE US TOUR

"Silver Bleeds the Black Sun...", the twelfth album from AFI, is out today on Run For Cover. Last month, vocalist Davey Havok sat with the podcast HardLore to discuss the history of the band in an in depth, two-part series. Watch part one  here and part two here. In August, AFI graced the cover of Alternative Press where Havok sat with Editor-In-Chief Anna Zanes to discuss the band’s tenure, the sonic shift of Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… and who he has been listening to.

For more than three decades, AFI has been in a nearly constant state of reinvention. The band has made it a point to evolve with every album – sometimes dramatically so – never allowing themselves to become too comfortable in one genre or rest on any of their impressive career laurels. It’s an approach that has grown their audience but also challenged it with a sonic identity that can shift in wild, unexpected directions. Now with Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, AFI are once again at the start of an exciting new chapter, only this time they’ve even managed to surprise themselves.

The goal of Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… was to make an album with a singular mood, something dreamy and ethereal, and the band members found themselves diving headfirst into influences that had always been deeply embedded in AFI’s musical core, but now were being brought to the forefront. The result is an album that feels out of time, at once familiar and fresh, drawing on classic sounds and reinterpreting them through a modern lens.

The album is dark and otherworldly, but also grandiose and stately, biting and beautiful in equal measure—in other words, it’s very AFI, yet not quite like any version of the band you’ve ever heard before. Speaking on its significance, Davey shares, “‘Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…’ is a sonic manifestation of the struggle to reconcile existence in the godless, uncanny dystopia that is modern life."

It’s this combination of endless creative daring, deftly wielded influences, and above all else, an unshakeable sense of self that’s allowed AFI to stay relevant for more than 30 years, often leading the way through emerging musical moments. From their scrappy roots as a high school hardcore band in the early ‘90s (Answer That and Stay Fashionable, Very Proud of Ya and Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes), to their dark melodic punk reinvention at the turn of the century (Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning), to their crossover into mainstream stardom in the early 2000s (Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground) and their years as shapeshifting alternative rock journeymen (Crash Love, Burials, The Blood Album, and Bodies), the band has survived and thrived by staunchly being themselves—no matter what that is.

AFI are currently on their headline North American tour with special guests TR/ST to celebrate the release of Silver Bleeds The Black Sun... The 24-date run began on September 30th in Madison, WI and will stop in Chicago, Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, and Denver, before wrapping November 5th in San Diego, CA. Wicca Phase Springs Eternal 'Mossy Oak Shadow' out today!

"Meet Me Anywhere" Featuring Ethel Cain

Today, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal (aka Pennsylvania-based singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Adam Andrzejewski) releases his latest stylistic reinvention, Mossy Oak Shadow. The album foregoes the rap/electronic production that's defined much of WPSE's work and instead applies his trademark melancholy mysticism to a set of stirring folk rock songs that prove Andrzejewski's only limit is his own imagination.

Earlier this week WPSE shared one more longing single, "Meet Me Anywhere" featuring guest vocals from none other than Ethel Cain. The track follows "Magic Moment," "Settler's Bend," "Horseback," and "Enchantment" and immediately envelopes the listener in the intriguing moods and melodies of Mossy Oak Shadow. It's an earnest and deeply satisfying duet between two artists whose work has often been defined by subversion and surprises, and an intriguing entryway into the eclectic world of Wicca Phase Springs Eternal.

Recorded live with Andrzejewski and producer/engineer Ben Greenberg (Depeche Mode, Drab Majesty, Show Me The Body) accompanied by only a drummer and keyboardist, Mossy Oak Shadow showcases the timelessly compelling songwriting that's always been at the core of Andrzejewski's work. “I always kind of thought that as long as I have the Wicca Phase Springs Eternal name that I can do whatever I want,” he explains. “The name provides a framework for the lyrics and aesthetics of the project–my songwriting with a mystical overlay to it–and as long as I can make something work within that, then the genre doesn’t totally matter.”

That daring creative mentality is what steered Andrzejewski when he first started the WPSE project, through his work as a co-founder of the influential GothBoiClique collective, or as member of Thraxxhouse and Misery Club, and even with his punk side project, Pay For Pain. Still, few could have guessed that the new proper Wicca Phase Springs Eternal release would be a set of country-leaning folk songs performed without a wink in sight. As with all things WPSE, Mossy Oak Shadow finds Andrzejewski fully committing, and in many ways the record feels like it’s simply leaning harder into parts of his musical DNA that have always been there. “The temptation is to call it a country record," he says. "I don't really think it’s that–but there’s acoustic guitar and slide guitar, and I think my interests and themes do have elements of country in sort of an archetypical way."

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal will be performing throughout 2025 with a full live band, including UK dates with Turnover and US headlining shows. See full itinerary below.

Upcoming Shows:*
09/19 Austin, TX @ Antone’s
09/20 Dallas, TX @ Ferris Wheelers
