Armock release new single "Guardian", new album out 7/12
performing at Pitchfork Music Festival London on November 10th
Armlock, the up-and-coming Australian duo of Simon Lam and Hamish Mitchell, recently joined the Run For Cover Records roster and announced their new album, Seashell Angel Lucky Charm. Due out July 12th, the record is 18 minutes of immersive indie rock that's at once impressionistic and accessible, ambiguous yet refreshingly earnest. Today Armlock have shared another early taste of the record with their latest single, "Guardian."
Lead single "Ice Cold" introduced the band's intricate sound (and garnered attention from the likes of Stereogum, The FADER, BrooklynVegan, and more), and now "Guardian" further envelopes the listener in Armlock's world. Like much of the band's music, the new single taps into Lam and Mitchell's roots in experimental electronic music and filters those influences through a homespun guitar music lens. "Guardian" draws you in close with crystal clear guitars, warm harmonies, and a sparse arrangement that leaves room for character and eccentricities.
The band discussed the new song, saying: "'Guardian' is about the desire for guidance as an uncertain future appears closer, and looking around at life in the present for answers. The song describes desperately looking for a guiding grace through a general sense of spiritually, or at least a heightened awareness of higher frequencies."
Longtime friends and collaborators, Lam (vocals and guitar) and Mitchell (guitar and keyboards) met studying jazz at Monash University in Melbourne, eventually discovering a shared love of electronic music. After a handful of electronic and dance outlets (I’lls, Couture, Kllo) Armlock came together and the two began incorporating guitar into the music they were making for the first time. Seashell Angel Lucky Charm is the imaginative and sonically rich result. The music at times recalls Pinback’s lean alternative, Alex G’s adventurous indie, or the wave of mysterious-yet-endearing genre-bending music coming out of the UK from label’s like Dean Blunt’s World Music or Vegyn’s PLZ Make It Ruins. Lam's vocals sit up front, often buoyed by spare guitar lines and a simple but steady beat, with ample space is left for production flourishes like distant laughter, chopped up samples, and pitched squeals to ping around the listener’s ears and leave you ready to hit repeat.
Armlock will be performing at Pitchfork Music Festival London on November 10th, with more touring announcements to come.

Cursive signs to Run For Cover, 'Devourer' out 11/13
watch the horror inspired “Up and Away” music video

Freshly signed, Cursive have announced their new album Devourer will be released on September 13, 2024. The iconic Omaha band is known for their intensity, ambition, and execution, and has spent 30 years creating a bold discography that’s defined as much by its cathartic sound as its weighty, challenging lyrical themes. As daring as ever, their 10th album Devourer is full of intense and incisive songs, proving exactly why Cursive have been so influential and enduring–and why they remain so vital today. The album’s lead single “Up and Away” is also out now alongside a video directed by Brea Grant (12 Hour Shift, Torn Hearts) and starring Jonah Ray; anchored by a sinuous bassline, the song exemplifies the band’s signature blend of dissonance and deep melody.

Stream "Up and Away"
“The video is the first in a series of horror-esque stories we've been planning for some time now, a collection of videos created by genre directors. Brea Grant conceived this story of a down-on-his-luck loafer who gets consumed by his own depression, swallowed into some surreal underworld of blanket forts where Cursive seems to be wallowing as well.”
The 2xLP vinyl release features a gatefold jacket w/ matte finish + spot gloss, full color inner sleaves, an etched D-side, and DVD featuring the Devourer music videos.
The band has also announced a slew of tour dates this fall in support of the album, beginning October 18th with two hometown Omaha shows at The Waiting Room and including a November 3rd stop at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. A current itinerary is below.

Another Michael Premiere New Single "Hub of Dreams"
Summer West Coast Tour w/ The Polyphonic Spree
Philadelphia's most adventurous guitar pop band, Another Michael, are gearing up for the release of their new album Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down, and today they're back with one more early single, "Hub of Dreams," premiering today via Consequence. Due out May 31st from Run For Cover Records, Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down arrives hot on the heels of its sibling, 2023's Wishes To Fulfill, providing a more experimental counterpart and highlighting Another Michael's unending creativity.
"Hub of Dreams" follows "I'm Your Roommate," "Seafood," "Mudslide," "Is There A World?," and the title track (which have drawn attention from the like of Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Uproxx, Paste Magazine, and more) and is yet another offering from the band's seemingly infinite well of inventive indie pop. Another Michael discussed the song's influences via Consequence who praised the track, calling it "a great example of the past and future of Another Michael merging in real time. The chorus is anthemic and urgent, but the song as a whole features a larger focus on dreamy majesty and guitar-based bliss."
Wishes To Fulfill garnered praise for its focus on instantly memorable hooks, and Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down offers a contrasting and complimentary side of Another Michael, bringing new hues to their vibrant sound. The album is still packed with the elements that make Another Michael so special--highly catchy melodies, smart chord progressions, lush arrangements, and layered harmonies--all while venturing into rewarding untouched sonic territory.
Like Wishes To Fulfill before it, Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down finds Another Michael reveling in their love of song--creating and paying tribute to transcendent musical moments and celebrating the deeply personal relationship that can develop between a listener and music that they truly connect with. “Music is a medium of communication,” explains bassist Nick Sebastiano, “It’s not a purposeful decision to talk about music in our songs but it just inherently means so much to us. If something makes your heart sing, the audience is going to hear it.” Doherty adds, "I think good songs are just ones you can find yourself bringing with you all your life no matter where it takes you."
Another Michael are currently on tour with Tenci, and the band have also announced a West Coast run supporting The Polyphonic Spree. See full itinerary below.

Horse Jumper of Love announce "Disaster Trick" out 8/16
US tour w/ Diiv on sale now
Today, Horse Jumper of Love announce their new album, Disaster Trick, due August 16th. The album finds the trio cranking up the volume while keeping the no-frills intimacy they’re known for. Frontman Dimitri Giannopoulos’ evocative lyrics and arrangements suddenly turn from delicate to blistering, their music is full of intensity, contrasting between quiet and loud, heavy and gentle, and animated by stark emotion and straightforward, timeless songwriting.
Lead single “Wink,” featuring guest vocals from Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman, strips down Horse Jumper of Love’s songwriting to the essentials: urgent, accessible arrangements full of catharsis.
Of the song, released today with a Brittany Reeber-directed video, Giannopoulos says “I was inspired by a Russian short story called “Leaves” by Dimitry Bakin. The story is partly about people leaving their home for something better but when they return they are back to the same place they started. The story shed some perspective on my own life and the ebb and flow of pushing forward for something better and going back to your old ways.”
Watch the "Wink" Music Video
Disaster Trick, which also features additional contributions from Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman and MJ Lenderman and Ella Williams of Squirrel Flower, feels like a creative reset for the band, partly due to Giannopoulos’ recent sobriety. “This was the first album I've ever done where I went into it with a very clear mind,” he says. “In the past, we would just show up at a studio, drink, and record. Here, everything felt purposeful.” With this newfound energy, the band entered Asheville, North Carolina’s Drop of Sun Studios with producer Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Indigo De Souza). The recordings soar with searing guitars and an unshakeable rhythm section, comprised of bassist John Margaris and drummer James Doran.
Hot on the heels of a spring tour supporting Alvvays, Horse Jumper of Love is hitting the road this summer on a North America tour with DIIV. All dates below.

All You Embrace follows 2021's This Place You Know and 2023's Songs For The Willow which catapulted One Step Closer into the ranks of the most exciting new bands coming out of hardcore. All You Embrace makes good on all of that potential, leaning into the most melodic elements of the band's sound without sacrificing an ounce of energy. The album finds One Step Closer exploring the sonic overlaps of hardcore, emo, '90s alternative, and more--resulting in the most ambitious songs they've ever written. “I wanted to showcase One Step Closer in its fullest state,” explains vocalist Ryan Savitski. “Every single part of the band, I wanted it to be there. I wanted us to be 100% ourselves and be as authentic to our band as we could possibly be.” And All You Embrace is certainly imbued with that sense of identity, a testament to knowing who you are in a world of uncertainties, and a powerful new era for One Step Closer.
One Step Closer are touring nonstop in support of All You Embrace, their next round of shows sees them heading to the UK and EU. The band have also announced a massive US co-headlining tour with Anxious and Koyo, as well as support from Prize Horse. See full itinerary below.

Narrow Head "Moments of Clarity" Deluxe CD/DVD OUT 5/3/24
Playing Coachella April 12 and 19th + dates with Interpol, Dazy and Sheer Mag
Since last year’s release, Narrow Head’s Moments of Clarity has earned sprawling high acclaim for its masterful and fresh mix of pop, grunge and shoegaze. Traversing the depths of towering riffs, bouncing, lock-grooved rhythms, and crystalline, gorgeously constructed hooks, the Houston-based outfit puts on a masterclass in the art of writing songs that match the pain, pleasure, and confusion of modern living. Today Narrow Head are pleased to announce a special deluxe reissue which includes remixes from Lil Aaron, atlgrandma, Pictureplane, TRANS FX, stripmallravestarrr, cole3k, plus other guests - just in time for their Coachella performances and next U.S. run.

The CD comes paired with a DVD that includes both Moments’ official music videos and a live session which features Narrow Head’s take on NY Hardcore mainstays, Crown of Thornz’s “Love Sick”. Frontman Jacob Duarte tells, “Crown of Thornz has always been one of those bands that was influential to us, maybe not sonically but the idea, vibe and message speaks to us in a way. They have hard, weird guitar riffs that no one else can copy. Topped with emotional lyrics, it scratches the itch.” The cover is streaming today across all digital retailers.

Horse Jumper of Love release new single "Gates of Heaven"
Upcoming Tours w/ DIIV and Alvvays
New York trio Horse Jumper of Love share “Gates of Heaven,” a brand new single released today. The song is the first taste of new music since 2023’s acclaimed mini-album, Heartbreak Rules, in which the group forwent their signature waves of fuzz and feedback, and instead highlighted the indelible songwriting at the core of their music. “Gates of Heaven,” recorded at Drop of Sun in Asheville, NC with producer Alex Farrar (Wednesday, MJ Lenderman), finds them back in full force.
“‘Gates of Heaven’ is an old song I had been sitting on since 2015. I wrote it after a painful breakup and also after someone close to me had died,” explains the band’s Dimitri Giannopoulos. “It was a soothing nostalgic melody that I played to help distract myself. When you’re young you think love is everything but I think I was too immature to know what love or death meant. My persecution complex shows strong... I was trying to understand why these things were happening to me instead of trying to understand the pain those close to me were going through.”
Additionally, the band has also shared “Snake Eyes (again),” a full band version of the Heartbreak Rules standout.
Horse Jumper of Love is hitting the road this spring and summer on tours that include dates supporting Alvvays and DIIV and a stop at Austin, TX’s SXSW Festival. All dates below.

Turnover announce 'Myself In The Way' Remixes, vinyl out June 28
Available digitally March 29
Turnover have teamed up with a team of collaborators to release Myself in the Way: Remixes, a new vinyl release that features reimagined versions of the band’s infectious and trippy album Myself in the Way. Artists like Young Guv and Anthenagin offer drum & bass updates to singles “Myself in the Way” and “Wait Too Long,” while prior touring partner Healing Potpourri adds to the psychedelic trance of “Mountains Made of Clouds.” Even Turnover’s own Austin Getz contributes three remixes, turning songs like “People That We Know’ and “Stone Station” into trance-influenced electronic jams. Youtube sensation Frank Watkinson closes out the album with a different interpretation of “Mountains Made of Clouds,” with only an acoustic guitar and the song’s heartbreaking lyrics to recontextualize the song as what feels like a timeless folk-ballad.
All of the songs on Myself in the Way: Remixes will also be a part Myself in the Way Deluxe Edition, a 29-track album arriving digitally March 29th. This expansive release features the original album, all ten remixes, and seven live cuts tracked at Studio 4 in Conshohocken Pennsylvania with producer Will Yip.
