Listen to new Anxious single "Some Girls", Bambi out 2/21
Bambi out 2/21
Connecticut punk upstarts, Anxious, are gearing up for their highly anticipated sophomore album, Bambi, due out February 21. Today they're sharing another massive single "Some Girls" along with an in-depth interview via Stereogum.
Bambi follows Anxious' acclaimed 2022 full-length, Little Green House, and finds the band fully embracing the widescreen alternative rock songwriting they've always hinted at. It's a record of growth and depth that's sonically ambitious while further amplifying the seamless combination of hardcore grit and classic emo dynamism that's made them such a beloved young band.
STREAM "SOME GIRLS" EVERYWHERE
Earlier singles "Counting Sheep" and "Head & Spine" introduced Anxious' next chapter (and drew praise from the likes of Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Uproxx, Alt Press, and more) and now "Some Girls" further expands Bambi's sonic world. The song begins with a plaintive riff before exploding into a sky-high chorus of layered harmonies and powerful guitars, drawing on influences like Jimmy Eat World, Third Eye Blind, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The Beach Boys, and coming out sounding more definitively like Anxious than ever.
Stereogum praised Bambi, calling it, "...the kind of sophomore album that you always hope a young emo band will make. That means it’s bigger, catchier, follows more threads, yet doesn’t sand down the rougher edges that were on their also-awesome debut, 2022’s Little Green House — it just makes them hit harder through more sophisticated songcraft.”
