Starsdust is rooted in Noah Weinman's creative restlessness. The song sketches began as a way to stay occupied while traveling during his extensive touring schedule, but after suffering a severe injury to his achilles tendon, Weinman found himself homebound and dove into this new project. Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out provided the raw materials for the making of the new record, with its beautifully homespun indie folk and more structured songwriting drastically altered into the dreamlike atmospheres of Starsdust. "I made one rule for myself while making this record and it was that I wasn’t allowed to record any new audio," Weinman explains. "Every sound on this album is a repurposed stem from Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out. I was allowed to pitch, flip, stretch, and chop anything I wanted, but everything had to begin from something already recorded for the last album." The result is an immersive set of songs that feel inviting and familiar yet unlike anything Runnner has released before.
